About Linda Bender, ACSW, LMSW

Linda Steinborn Bender grew up in East Lansing, Michigan, graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Socio Economics, from James Madison College. While at MSU, Linda led voter education projects directed at college students. After college Linda obtained a Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis. Early in Linda’s training she realized that her true calling was working with people with health related issues and the geriatric population. One of her first social work professors stated that the social worker’s job is to make the client’s environment meet the client’s needs. Linda has carried this core principle with her throughout her 30-plus year career.

In a hospital based setting, Linda treated patients with chronic pain issues and was a part of the physical medicine and rehab team. In 1999, Linda again followed her heart and began a 17 year career with Arbor Hospice and Palliative Care. It was a great joy to help people and their loved ones on the final part of their journey together. Linda worked hard to help each patient complete their journey with peace, comfort and dignity. Linda became the Lead Social Worker, in that position Linda mentored Social Workers and helped standardize the care given by the social work department.

Linda has always enjoyed working with people, helping them determine what they want in life.

In 2013 Linda realized that she was being led in new direction and it was time to open a private practice. Linda enjoys the individual focus and relationships she fosters with clients seeing them regularly. She enjoys being a part of clients’ personal growth as they work together to achieve their goals. Linda’s diverse areas of expertise allow her to provide individual therapy, and guidance on aging and end of life issues.

Linda regularly attends professional development seminars to provide her clients with the most up to date treatment methods and resources.
